Choose denim or pants with at least 2 percent Lycra for stretch, which will help keep jeans from digging into your sides, creating an unflattering silhouette.

Invest in black stretch leggings or denim leggings, which can be paired with longer sweaters or tunics and make your midsection appear leaner.

Choose shirts carefully. Select shirts with empire waists or side-ruching to camoflauge belly and hip fat. Make sure that shirts are longer in length, as shorter shirts tend to ride up and expose stomach and hip fat.

Wear shaping camisoles. Shop for them in the lingerie department of most department or discount stores. Look for shaping camisoles that contain spandex and hidden shaping panels to create a smooth appearance, but look like a regular tank top or undershirt. Wear under regular shirts or sweaters.
