Limit your salt intake because excess salts makes your body retain water which results in bloating. The American Heart Association recommends you consume less than 1,500 mg of salt per day. Avoid salty food including hot dogs, olives, soy sauce, ketchup and salted nuts. Read food labels to find out how much sodium a product has.

Consume 5 g of potassium, 400 mg of magnesium and 1,200 mg of calcium daily -- this will alleviate bloating and balance your body's fluid levels, according to That's Fit. Take supplements or eat bananas, apricots, avocados or raisins for potassium. Eat green vegetables and nuts for magnesium and eat yogurt and orange juice for calcium.

3
Avoid foods high in sugar such as cookies, ice cream and cakes. According to That's Fit, sugar raises insulin levels which makes it hard for your body to get rid of sodium.

4
Perform cardiovascular exercise four days of the week to remove salt and extra fluid from your body through sweating and increased respiration.

Drink eight to 10 glasses of water per day to avoid dehydration. If your body is dehydrated, it will hold onto water.
