Exercise with interval training by keeping the short bursts of intense exercise between 15 and 30 seconds. Use at least 30 seconds to a whole minute to recover and rest.

Repeat Step 2 at least 5 times for a quick and effective cardio workout that will burn calories. Interval training will not only help you drop pounds, but your cardiovascular health will improve as well. Also, your metabolism will increase with the more training you do, so you will burn more calories while you are at rest as well.

Alternate the length of time you do the "sprint" part of the work and the "recovery" part of the exercise. You should push yourself to be out of breath, but don't push yourself if you are getting lightheaded or dizzy.
