How to Get Rid of Fat Cells

By the time you reach age 20 your body cannot normally lose fat cells, but it can still gain fat cells. Gaining a lot of weight as an adult can result in your fat cells expanding. If your fat cells expand to three times their normal size, they can divide to create more cells. However, you can control the amount of fat that is in each fat cell, so it is possible to lose weight.

Have liposuction performed to remove fat cells. Liposuction is a medical procedure to remove unwanted fat in specific areas of the body. After the fat cells are removed, they will not grow back. This does not mean you cannot gain weight after liposuction. Your fat cells can still expand, which makes it possible to regain weight you lost through this surgery. This is the only known way to get rid of fat cells. The next-best alternative is to shrink the size of your current fat cells.

Gain and maintain muscle by doing strength-training exercises three times a week. You can lose fat by gaining muscle, so try weightlifting, yoga, Pilates or other muscle-building exercises.

Burn fat by monitoring your heart rate during workouts. When you are doing cardiovascular exercises, monitor your heart rate to burn the most fat during your fitness routines. Use a heart rate monitor or count your hear beats per minute by placing your fingers on the base of your neck. You will burn the most fat when your heart rate is at 60 percent to 70 percent of its maximum. You can find your maximum heart rate per minute subtracting your age from 220. Try to do cardio exercises at least 30 minutes three days per week.

Stick to a healthy diet. To burn fat and lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you consume. Eating a low-calorie diet will help. Try to eliminate foods high in empty calories, such as candy and other sweets. Replace the junk food with whole foods such as whole grains, vegetables and lean protein.

Buy healthy foods and eat before you leave the house. Choosing unhealthy food when you are overly hungry can be a major contributing factor to your weight gain. Stop buying junk food, so won't be available when you want a snack. It's a good idea to eat a healthy meal before leaving home so you won't be tempted by high-calorie foods while you're out.
