Take initial measurements before beginning your workout or diet regimen. Step on the scale and write down your total body weight in pounds. Wrap the measuring tape around your waist, wrist, hips and forearm and write down the measurement in inches for each.

Visit the BMI Calculator website and input the measurements that you took. Check the circle for whether you are male or female. Click "Calculate Body Fat." The website will provide you with a body fat percentage. A BMI score between 20 and 25 is considered healthy.

Carry on with your period of working out and dieting. At the end of the period, repeat the steps above to determine your new body fat.

Subtract this new number from the old number, and you will have a figure for how much body fat you lost.
