How to Lose Weight in My Waist & Stomach
Despite the claims of many fad diets, it is not possible to lose weight in a targeted area. When you lose weight, you typically lose it from all over and it is difficult to predict how you will look once you have reached your goal weight. Even if you are a healthy weight, you may still find that your tummy is a little larger than you want. The best way to address problem areas, whether they be your stomach or another part of your body, is through exercise and healthy diet.Instructions

Lose More Weight

1
Determine whether or not you are at a healthy weight. If you are overweight or obese, the best way to reduce stomach fat is by losing more weight. Although there is no way to predict how much of the weight that you lose will come from your waist, you should still expect to see a difference in that area.

If you decide to lose more weight, establish a healthy diet. Increase your intake of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and healthy fats. Cut out processed foods, sugary desserts, soda and excess dairy. Make sure that you are drinking at least eight glasses of water each day. Always listen to your body and do not eat when you are not hungry. Speak to a dietitian if you are having a difficult time eating healthfully.

Exercise for one hour at least three times a week. Do a variety of exercises, including aerobic and anaerobic activities in your regimen. Activities such as running, biking and dancing will help you burn off excess calories. Lifting weights or doing resistance training will build muscle and improve your metabolism.
Build Your Abdominal Muscles

If you are already at a healthy weight, your best bet for decreasing your waist size is by targeting your abdomen during exercise. Build your abdominal muscles with crunches, curls and similar exercises.

5
Adjust your exercise regimen so that at least half of your resistance training is focused on your abdomen. High intensity abdominal workouts will build muscle, which will decrease the size of your waist by holding in your fat tissue.

Supplement your workout with a diet that is high in protein, as this is necessary for building muscle. Since muscular tissue requires a great deal of energy to sustain, you may notice an increase in your appetite after completing the first several weeks of your new workout routine.
