Snack on nuts throughout the day. Rather than indulging in sugary snacks or crackers, substitute them for almonds or walnuts. The fat and protein in nuts reduces cravings for other foods. Nuts also help keep your blood sugar stable. This will give you energy to work out as well.

Reduce carbohydrate consumption. Replace white carbohydrates such as pasta and rice with brown versions. When possible, eat a heaping pile of vegetables in place of rice, pasta or bread. Instead of using bread to make a sandwich, wrap the fillings with a lettuce wrap.

Eat plenty of protein in your diet. Foods rich in protein include turkey and chicken breast. Include these foods in at least two meals per day.
