How to Fix a Low Metabolism
Humans get necessary energy through metabolism. Our bodies convert food into energy. This energy is necessary for all bodily functions, including digestion, organ performance and even breathing. Low metabolism can lead to low energy as well as weight gain. Whether a slow metabolism is due to aging or a medical condition such as a sluggish thyroid, you can use several ways to improve low metabolism.Instructions

1
Make an appointment with your doctor. The first step to fix a low metabolism is to rule out any medical issues that may contribute to it. An under-active thyroid or metabolic syndrome could possibly be making metabolism low.

2
Increase the amount of protein in your diet. Some examples of protein-rich foods include chicken, whey, protein powder and eggs. Protein raises and maintains a normal metabolism. The protein also stabilizes insulin.

3
Perform aerobic exercise at least four or five days per week for 30 to 60 minutes per session. Brisk walking, swimming and running will help fix low metabolism.

4
Do resistance training at least three times a week. Aim for a full-body workout each time. This training increases muscle mass, which in turn boosts your metabolism. Lifting weights is an effective form of resistance training.
