Slimmer Body Tips

According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), from 2007 to 2008, 34 percent of men and women in the United States, ages 20 and older, were overweight. Excess weight, especially in the stomach area, increases your risk of diabetes, stroke, heart disease, certain cancers and high blood pressure. If you desire to lose weight, there are things you can do to get that slimmer body. You will have to start with adjusting your diet and incorporating exercise into your lifestyle.
  1. Nutrition

    • If you desire to slim down, you will have to eat up to six, small nutritious meals throughout the day. By eating frequently you keep your metabolism active and burn calories. Eating frequently keeps you from craving foods that sabotage your slimming results. Go for healthy choices, such as lean proteins including chicken, fish and egg whites. Choose complex carbohydrates, such as fiber-rich and whole-grain product, over simple carbohydrates. Also choose unsaturated fats, such as olive oil, over saturated fats.

    Cardiovascular Exercise

    • Raising the heart rate, using cardiovascular exercise, can accelerate your slimming results because you target your fat stores and burn calories. At least 30 minutes of cardiovascular training for a minimum of three days per week is a good start. To prevent getting bored and to keep challenging your body, switch up the types of exercises you do. Some choices include running, biking, tennis, swimming, basketball or working out on the stair-climber and elliptical machine.

    Resistance Training

    • Resistance training is essential to build muscle mass. It will keep you from gaining weight in the long run. Not only does muscle burn fat throughout the day, it also takes up less space than fat, making you appear slimmer and more toned. Challenge your muscles and use machines, free weights and body-weight when working out. Always allow the muscles a full day of rest to restore before training them again.

    Body Shapers

    • For an instant slimmer body, you can look into purchasing body shapers. Body shapers are worn underneath your clothes and get rid of any fat bulges to create a smooth and slimmer appearance. Lingerie shops, major department stores and various online stores sell everything from full body suits to shaping panties and slimming camisoles. Prices vary depending on brands.

    Stress

    • Aside from uncontrollable cravings and lack of exercise, stress can be another factor that causes you to gain weight. When your stress level goes up, your body releases the stress-hormone cortisol. Cortisol has been associated with increased fat in the stomach area. Limiting stress can keep you from gaining fat. Meditation, delegating tasks at work and breathing deeply can help reduce stress.
