Ways to Get Slimmer Thighs
In order to slim down your thighs, focus on exercises that tone the inner-thigh muscles. To get the best results, cut down on calories and start walking or running daily as well as targeting your thighs. Your thigh muscles may burn or ache when you're starting a new routine, which can make walking painful or may discourage you from doing the exercises. Start slow and add more repetitions as your muscles start to get stronger.-
Scissor Kicks
-
Scissor-kick exercises tone the inner thighs. To do this exercise, lie down on your back on the floor or a yoga mat. Your arms should be on the ground at your sides with your palms facing down. Lift both legs in the air at a 45-degree angle to the ground. With your toes pointed, cross your legs across one another. Uncross them, then cross them again, this time switching which leg is in front. Continue alternating your legs for 12 to 15 repetitions.
Ballerina Squat
-
Stand with your feet spread out slightly wider than shoulder width apart. Point your toes and bend your knees. Lean to the right side until your left leg is straight. Your right knee should still be bent. Hold this position for one second, then shift your weight to the other side until your right leg is straight. Continue alternating for eight to 10 repetitions on each side.
Butt Lifts
-
This exercise tones up not only your inner thighs but your stomach and behind as well. Lie on your back with your knees bent and your arms at your sides, palms down. Tighten your ab muscles and lift your hips off the ground until your body forms a straight line from your head to your knees. Spread your knees out as far as they will go, then slowly bring them back in and lower your butt back to the ground. Repeat this move 12 to 15 times.
Side-Leg Lifts
-
For this exercise you'll need a rolled-up yoga mat or a sturdy chair with a low back. With your feet spread shoulder-width apart, lean down to hold onto the chair back or the yoga mat, held perpendicular to the floor. Move your feet back until your back is parallel to the floor. Holding onto the mat or chair for support, tighten your ab muscles and keep your back straight. Lift one leg up straight to the side as high as you can. Hold this position for three full seconds. Lower the leg and repeat with the other side. Repeat 10 to 15 times with each leg.
Squats
-
To do a squat, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Keeping your back straight, bend your knees and sink down until you are almost in a sitting position. Hold the position for three seconds and slowly push yourself up into a standing position. Adding an exercise ball will help relieve back pain while squatting. Stand with your back to a wall with the exercise ball between the wall and your lower back. Lower yourself down the wall 5 to 10 inches. Your knees should bend and the ball should roll down the wall with you. Hold the position for three seconds and then slowly push yourself into a standing position. Do five repetitions, then take a 30 second break and do another set.
