How to Get Rid of Love Handles for Guys

1
Join a gym in your neighborhood. If the facility is easily accessed, it will keep you from making excuses not to go. If you'd rather not join a gym, or no such facility is located nearby, use home workout equipment.

2
Incorporate cardiovascular exercise into your daily schedule. Cardiovascular exercise raises the heart rate and will help burn calories. Cardio can be anything from a jog outside to walking or jobbing on a treadmill, to using an elliptical machine, a stair climber or a stationary bike; swimming also provides an excellent cardio workout. Keeping the intensity of the exercise low allows you to do it daily. If you raise the intensity, take a day off in between exercise sessions. Mixing up the different forms of cardio exercises will keep you from getting bored.

3
Add weight training to your workout routine. Weight training increases your muscle mass and reduces body fat. Work out all the muscles of the body. Weight training also offers another benefit: widening your upper body by performing exercise that target those muscle groups. Lat pull-downs, bench presses and overhead shoulder presses are a few such exercises that work the upper torso. By widening the upper body, you create the illusion of having a smaller midsection, and you will get closer to that desired "V" shape.

4
Eat small, healthy meals five to six times a day. Eating often will keep your metabolism up and will keep cravings at bay. Low-calorie foods that are rich in fiber and protein are ideal; fish, skinless chicken and fresh fruits and vegetables should be on the menu.
-
5
Tone up your midsection by doing abdominal exercises. Exercises that target the love handles include elbow-to-knee crunches, also called bicycle crunches, and weighted side bends.
