Fruit Diet to Reduce Weight

The Fruit Diet, or Fruit Flush, generally refers to the eating plan outlined by nutritionist Jay Robb in his book "Fruit Flush 3 Day Detox." It is not the same as a fruitarian diet, where a person chooses to only eat fruit along with nuts and grains.
  1. Benefits

    • The fruit diet consists of consuming protein shakes for one day only, followed by two days of eating raw fruits every two hours, followed by a dinner of raw vegetables with lean protein. After these three days, it is possible to experience up to 10 pounds of quick weight loss which motivates many people to follow up with healthy eating and lifestyle habits.

    Features

    • The fruit diet can help jump start weight loss programs since it includes strict limitations for what can be eaten in those three days. Sugary drinks, coffee, alcohol, candy, and starches including bread and potatoes are all off limits.

    Misconceptions

    • Although it is a viable option for those who are looking to loose weight, the fruit diet is a short term plan that will yield short term results. It is not a lifestyle diet. Those who stick to such a diet for an extended period of time risk vitamin and nutrient deficiencies which can lead to further health complications.
