How to Burn Pure Body Fat

The process of burning pure body fat is called ketosis. It works by severely reducing carbohydrate intake, which causes your body to break down fat stores to produce energy. These fat stores are used continuously while carbohydrate intake is limited, so a period of ketosis can make you look much slimmer and weigh less. However, ketosis is essentially starving your body of nutrients it needs to function to cause it to use existing fat stores. Therefore, the process needs to be followed correctly to avoid possible harm.

Instructions

    • 1

Plan your daily meals in advance. This will make it easier to stick to a carbohydrate-limited diet because it will prevent you from getting hungry and reaching for snacks.

    • 2

Limit your carbohydrate intake to 35 grams. This is enough to maintain body function but will cause your body to burn fat stores for energy.

    • 3

Divide your 35 grams among the number of meals you consume. Eating them all in one sitting leaves you vulnerable to feeling hungry later, so have a very small portion of carbohydrates at each meal. Gary Taubes, author of "Good Calories, Bad Calories," advises that eating too many carbs in one sitting causes your insulin levels to spike. This affects your metabolism for up to 48 hours.

Increase your protein intake. This ensures your body does not go into starvation mode. As a rough guide, try to consume 20 grams of fat per meal and 10 grams for snacks. Base your meals on lean meats.
