    Diet Claims

    • The fad diet is promoted for weight loss. It is supposed to cause weight loss of 50 to 55 pounds in 10 weeks. Most medical and government recommendations are for a loss of no more than 1 or 2 pounds a week, except in certain cases which require medical supervision.

    Mayo Clinic Diet

    • The Mayo Clinic put out its own official diet in 2005. It is called the Mayo Clinic Plan or the Mayo Clinic Diet, and it is based on sound nutrition and lifestyle changes leading to gradual weight loss. Mayo has its own food pyramid to support its diet.
