Scientific Ways to Lose Weight

The most scientifically healthy way to lose weight is by eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly. However, knowing exactly what foods to eat, what foods to avoid and what exercises to do, is not necessarily common knowledge. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the most effective way to lose weight is through a "moderate intake of small healthy meals combined with a regular exercise regimen." Diet pills, hormone injections and chemical treatments are not healthy or natural, and often have adverse side effects, which is why they are not recommended.
  1. Cut the Carbs

    • Complex carbohydrates are one of the leading causes for weight gain. Sugar, starches, wheat products, pasta, breads, white rice, pastries and baked goods are worse than fatty foods such as bacon, cheese and butter. Eliminating or significantly changing your carb intake will produce results very quickly. Always eat whole grain or rye breads and never white. The "whiter" baked goods are the less healthy and are more conducive to weight gain.

    Vegetables

    • Vegetables contain a very low amount of calories and a high amount of vitamins and minerals. As a rule of thumb, the brighter the vegetable (spinach, broccoli, peppers) the healthier it is. Those who are dieting may find it difficult to stop from snacking and may always be hungry. The solution is vegetables. It is nearly impossible to gain weight from eating vegetables. As a result, a dieter can eat as many vegetables as they like as often as they like. This keeps cravings away and keeps the stomach full.

    Aerobic Exercise

    • Aerobic exercise is the most beneficial for weight loss. Running, biking, aerobics and yoga all offer a total body workout that not only helps to reduce weight, but it increase metabolism and tones the body. During aerobic exercise, the heart rate is increased and the body works harder to supply energy and burns calories. Since many aerobic exercises involve high numbers of repetitive movements, they are excellent for toning muscles and loose skin.

    Drink Water

    • Water helps purify the body. Experts agree that staying well hydrated is not only good for overall health but also helps burn calories. Cold water burns more calories as the body must expend energy (calories) to convert the cold water to the temperature of the body. In addition, water will help flush out the digestive system and keep it running clean resulting in more pounds being shed. For those who want an added bonus, add green tea to hot water. Green tea contains many healthy ingredients that aid in weigh loss such as EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate).
