How to Lose Tummy Fat Quickly

Aging causes your metabolism to slow down and the amount of fat in your body to increase, especially in the abdomen. Underneath the fat that you can actually see lies visceral fat, which is deeper inside the abdomen and surrounds the abdominal organs. Too much fat concentrated in the midsection is unhealthy and has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, stroke, breast cancer, insulin resistance, high cholesterol and triglycerides. Regular exercise and a healthy diet is the best way to lose belly fat.

Instructions

  1. Lose Belly Fat

    • 1
      Eat more fruits and vegetables

Eat a healthy diet. Cut out unhealthy foods. Read all the nutrition labels and look for low fat foods with polyunsaturated fats instead of saturated fats. Eat more fruits and vegetables and decrease intake of carbohydrates, such as pasta and bread. Additionally, reduce the portion sizes and calorie intake to lose weight and belly fat.

    • 2

Tone your deep abdominal muscles. Get down on all fours and let your belly extend down. Take deep breaths in and out and draw your belly inward toward your spine, squeeze and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat this 10 times daily.

    • 3

Tone your lower abs. Lie down on your back with your knees bent. Tighten your ab muscles and bend your pelvis up slightly and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat this 20 times.

    • 4

Commit to strength training. Conduct weight exercises at your local gym or at home. Your local gym will have instructors who can identify the machines that target the abdomen.

    • 5

Find an aerobic activity to do for at least two and half hours a week in addition to your ab exercises and weight training. For instance, incorporate walking or running into your exercise regimen.

    • 6

Get the proper rest. The amount and type of sleep you get is important. Make sure you get enough deep sleep, at least eight hours a night. Decreased amounts of deep sleep are associated with reduced levels of growth hormone, which helps regulate body fat and muscle during adulthood.
