What Vitamins Cut Fat?
Diet programs designed to reduce fat intake and alter eating habits can have a negative impact on the body. If starved of the necessary nutrients and vitamins needed for healthy functioning, excess weight loss and poor health could result. If you want to lose weight and keep healthy, there are a range of vitamins with fat-burning abilities to try.-
B Vitamins
-
The B vitamins play a key role in boosting your metabolism by stimulating the thyroid, helping it burn off fat quicker. B vitamins that quicken healthy activity in the thyroid hormone include B2 (also known as riboflavin), B6 and B3 (niacin). Any impairment to normal thyroid functioning slows down the metabolism which can eventually result in weight gain.
B vitamins also help regulate blood-sugar levels in the body, and assist in stimulating energy and strength in the body's cells. Pantheonic acid, also known as the B5 vitamin, helps transform ingested fats and carbohydrates into energy, allowing your body to burn off fat more efficiently. Individuals who have B5-vitamin deficiency can experience excessive tiredness and lethargy, resulting in weight gain.
Chromium
-
Chromium fulfils a similar function to insulin, effectively regulating the body's blood sugar levels. Efficient levels of blood sugar are essential to maintaining a healthy weight. Impaired blood sugar activity means the body is not transforming food into energy, which can result in it being stored as fat instead. Chromium is also effective at regulating levels of cholesterol present in the blood.
Zinc and Vitamins A and E
-
Zinc works in conjunction with the B6 vitamin to produce enzymes essential to the breaking down and digesting of food. It also produces thyroid hormones, which are then regulated by the functions of the B vitamins. Vitamins A and E assist in the production of thyroid hormones in the body.
Calcium
-
According to a report referenced on the Medical News Today website, calcium consumption may also assist in weight loss. The study, conducted by Angelo Tremblay and a team of scientists from the Universitie Laval's Faculty of Medicine, gave obese women less than 600mg of calcium a day for a period of 15 weeks. The recommended daily intake of calcium is around 1000mg. The women were instructed to follow low-calorie diets and to take two tablets daily, which contained 1200mg of calcium or a placebo pill.
Women who took the calcium pills lost on average 5kg more than those who took the placebo supplements. Angelo Tremblay concluded that once the brain detects a lack of calcium, it attempts to compensate by increasing its food intake. In contrast, high levels of calcium intake appear to quell the desire to eat excessively.
Vitamin C
-
Vitamin C is renowned for fighting infection and improving overall health, but it can also be an efficient tool in keeping off excess weight. Vitamin C plays a crucial role in converting glucose in the body into energy. This prevents excessive fatty buildups and also keeps the heart functioning healthily. Vitamin C may also help with keeping regular exercise regimens as it keeps bones strong and quickens recovery from injuries.
