Dietician's Tools

Dietitians help people who are trying to lose weight lose it in the most efficient yet healthy way possible, by putting them on diets and encouraging exercise. There are certain tools dietitians use to help their clients keep track of how much they are losing, as well as help them through every day as they try to get a healthier lease on life.
  1. Schedules

    • Keeping a strict schedule of what clients have eaten and how much they have exercised each day is integral for a dietitian to properly do their jobs. These schedules can be custom made by the dietitian, dividing each week into individual days and having columns for what was eaten, how many calories and grams of fat it contained and how much exercise was completed that day. A key should be provided for the clients on this schedule that shows how many calories they should be eating each day and how many calories they will burn if they do a certain amount of exercise for a set amount of time. There are also different types of software and online tools like the Dietitian's Planner and the Diet Tool.08 for dietitians to download and enter in the information recorded each week by their clients. This will help them turn around the results immediately and show their clients how much they have improved or where they need to.

    Atkins 2Go Mobile Phone App

    • Atkins Nutritionals, who are best known for the Atkins Diet, and a software company called Digital Chocolate have teamed up to create a carbohydrate counting mobile phone application which allows people who are trying to watch their weight count their carbohydrates from just about anywhere they may be eating. This works well for dietitians as a dietary calculator which they can encourage their clients to purchase so that they can accurately know how much food they are eating or what the accurate content (according to the app) of carbohydrates in each food. According to Gizmodo.com, Weight Watchers and a number of other successful dieting companies are also developing their own mobile phone applications which do similar things.

    NutritionData.com

    • Websites online will also help dietitians to recommend knew foods which are healthy and easier for their clients to consume so they have an easier time losing weight. One is NutritionData.com which gives all the available nutrition data on just about any food and many different dishes and foods from restaurants or meals which are available in supermarkets. It also provides information on easy-to-make, healthy meals which a dietitian can relay to their clients or include in their weekly schedules. While NutritionData.com is a very reliable website resource for factual nutrition information, it is always a good idea for Dietitians to use the internet to double-check the nutritional qualities of certain foods before recommending them to their clients.
