Vegan HCG Vs. Meat HCG
-
Vegan HCG Protocol
-
The vegan HCG diet protocol encourages the consumption of vegetables while supplementing food intake with daily HCG injections. It reportedly promotes natural body cleansing, leading to easier digestion and excretion. The meal plan consists of raw fruits and vegetables for breakfast; a raw fruit and vegetable smoothie for lunch, or a raw alternative meal such as banana pie; and similar choices for dinner. Drinking up to 1 gallon of water per day is highly recommended to people on the vegan HCG diet.
Meat HCG Protocol
-
Limiting meat options to 100g is advised for effective weight loss. An excerpt from Simeon's manuscripts, "Pounds and Inches," shows that it is acceptable to eat small portions of meat while on the HCG diet. According to the manuscripts, meat, poultry and white fish must not exceed 100g, and all their fat must be trimmed prior to weighing and cooking. The consumption of meat is countered with a high intake of raw fruits and vegetables for faster digestion. Supplemental HCG injections are required with the meat version of the HCG diet plan as well.
Expert Insight

According to Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D., of the Mayo Clinic, studies have not shown that HCG injections are useful in promoting weight loss. Zeratsky wrote in a MayoClinic.com article that healthy and effective weight loss occurs over time. She advised people to focus on the basics, such as enjoying healthier foods and including physical activity in their daily routine.
Side Effects

Extremely low-calorie diets can pose many health risks. Individuals participating in both the vegan and the meat versions of the HCG diet may experience headaches, mood swings, depression, blood clots, confusion and dizziness due to the lack of vital nutrients. A physician should be consulted before beginning a rigorous dieting program.
