How to Dramatically Lose Weight

Losing weight the right way is challenging, but it can be done. Confidence, discipline and dietary health must be your top priorities in the weight loss process. Rather than viewing weight loss as just a means to improve your physical appearance, view it as a way to add longevity and quality to your life. According to the website Body Building for You, one pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories. If your goal is to lose one pound per week, then you need to consume about 3500 fewer calories per week, or 500 fewer calories per day, than you normally would. Cutting calories and exercise are the two healthiest ways to dramatically lose weight.

Instructions

  1. Dietary tips

    • 1

Use milk instead of cream in your coffee. Even whole milk contains much fewer calories than cream, but it's best to use skim or 2 percent milk. This can save you up to 50 calories per day.

    • 2

Omit the butter from your baked potato or corn on the cob. This step will save you up to 100 daily calories.

    • 3

Avoid drinking soda. There are plenty of tasty alternatives to high-calorie soft drinks. For example, Vitamin Water or fruit-flavored water have very few calories but still have flavor. This will save you 200 calories.

    • 4

Do not eat fast food. Or instead of a Big Mac, choose a salad with low-fat dressing. A Big Mac contains about 460 calories; a salad with low-fat dressing contains just under 100. You save at least 360 calories.

    • 5

Don't eat chips with your sandwich. Instead, have a piece of fruit or a few saltines. This will save you at least 300 calories.

    • 6

Eat corn on the cob instead of canned corn. Canned corn contains about 165 calories per serving, and corn on the cob contains about 85 calories. You save 80 calories.

    Exercise Tips

    • 7

Take a brisk 30-minute walk around the park. A pace that's faster than a stroll will burn about 160 calories.

    • 8

Ride your bike. Aim to conquer several small- and medium-sized hills. This will burn up to 250 calories.

    • 9

Swim laps. The crawl, or freestyle, stroke is the best option. If you can swim for an hour---not necessarily all at once; you can take breaks---you will burn as many as 510 calories.

    • 10

Get out in the garden. Bending, pulling and walking for an hour can burn up to 250 calories.

    • 11

Play tennis or racquetball. One intense hour of either sport can burn about 800 calories.
