Solutions for Loose Skin on Thighs

Rapid weight loss can result in unsightly loose skin in areas where the most dramatic reduction in size takes place. The jowls, biceps, belly and thighs are all trouble spots. Even steady, medically supervised weight loss has this effect if the patient was morbidly obese. Extreme cases often require surgery.
  1. Nutrition

    • The skin is the body's largest organ and it depends on cell production for its overall health. The fuel that drives that cell production comes from what you eat. Balance your diet. Avoid the temptation to eliminate fat from your diet. Reserve a small amount of your daily diet for healthy fats and good oils.

    Moisturizer

    • Exfoliate several times per week to remove dead skin and promote the production of new skin. Lock in the skin's natural oils with a quality moisturizer.

    Exercise

    • Residual stubborn fat is sometimes mistaken for loose skin. During weight loss, especially if the weight loss was rapid, a certain amount of lean muscle mass is lost along with fat which reduces the healthy bulk below the skin. Targeted exercise in conjunction with the balanced diet can restore muscle and reduce or eliminate the last of the fat.

    Massage

    • Like exfoliation, massage stimulates the skin and the oils that are used add a moisture layer to keep skin healthy and bright.

    Surgery

    • There are two types of thigh lifts. A medial thigh lift focuses on the inner thigh area. This is done independently of or in conjunction with an outer thigh lift. Liposuction to remove any residual fat helps to shape the contours of the leg.
