Zumba for Beginners
-
Find a Class
-
Check your local gyms for class schedules. At first, try to stick with the same instructor, as each one has different songs and moves, which can be confusing for a beginner. Sticking with the same instructor will help you learn the moves more quickly. Then you can move onto another instructor.
Take it Slowly
-
Unless you are already coordinated, you may have trouble combining the steps and arm movements, or following the moves the instructor is performing. Do what you can, and don't overdo it. Everyone in the class was a beginner at one point, and to get to a more advanced level takes practice.
Practice!
-
The more you do Zumba, the better you will get at it. Go to as many classes as you feel you can, and practice at home with a Zumba DVD. Instructors introduce new songs and moves constantly, so there is never time to be bored!
Stay Hydrated
-
As with any form of exercise, drink plenty of water to keep hydrated throughout the class. Be sure to check with your health professional before beginning a fitness regime.
