How to Lubricate Nordic Track Machines
The NordicTrack company makes a variety of cardio fitness machines for you to use for weight loss and/or cardiovascular fitness. These machines include treadmills, elliptical trainers and skiers. To keep your machine in proper working order, you may need to do some minor maintenance, such as lubrication of parts. NordicTrack treadmills come with pre-lubricated belts, but elliptical trainers and skiers need occasional lubrication. Your machine may need lubrication if it is sticking, slipping or squeaking.Things You'll Need
- Cotton cloth
- Silcone-based oil
- Pen
- Household oil

NordicTrack Elliptical Trainer
-
1
Unplug the power cord from the rear of the elliptical trainer. The display will turn itself off if the pedals are not in use and if the power cord is unplugged.
-
2
Place a towel or plastic mat underneath the elliptical to catch any oil that may drop.
-
3
Wipe the pedals and track with a clean, 100 percent cotton cloth.
-
4
Spray a light coat of lubricant on the elliptical's track. Use a silicone-based lubricant.
-
5
Plug the elliptical trainer back in and step onto the pedals. Hit "Quickstart" to turn the machine on and pedal for one minute to distribute the lubricant and make sure the pedals are not squeaking. Apply more lubricant if there is still a squeak or if the pedals are not moving smoothly.
NordicTrack Skier
-
6
Put a towel or a plastic mat underneath your NordicTrack skier to catch any oil that might drop.
-
7
Lubricate the end rollers on the bottom rear of the machine with a drop each of a household oil. You may also use 3inOne oil, as recommended by NordicParts.com.
-
8
Lubricate the leather resistance pad on the arm exerciser. Check this part every three months for needed lubrication. Unscrew the resistance knob on the side of the pulley, but do not pull it out. Raise the pulley up and apply one or two drops of oil to the resistance pad.
-
9
Insert a pen or pencil between the pad and the pulley so that the oil can be absorbed. Leave it overnight.
-
10
In the morning, wipe up any leftover oil with a clean cloth. Screw the knob back in fully.
