How to Be a Weight Watchers Leader

If you have ever been on a diet, you've probably heard of Weight Watchers. The program, started in New York by Jean Nidetch in the 1960s, is designed to help people achieve weight loss goals while developing good eating habits. Weight Watchers is always on the lookout for new employees who firmly believe in Nidetch's philosophy. To become a leader---the person who conducts Weight Watchers meetings---you must first be aware of the selection process.

Instructions

    • 1

Complete the Weight Watchers Program. Dieters need encouragement from someone who has already been on a weight-loss journey; therefore, Weight Watchers searches for leaders who have been successful at losing weight.

    • 2

Become a lifetime member. Once you meet your goal weight, you will become a Weight Watchers lifetime member. To qualify as a leader, you must maintain this membership. According to Weight Watchers, a leader is required to always stay within 2 pounds of her goal weight.

    • 3

Develop support skills. Weight loss is difficult. Weight Watchers members expect and need support and practical dieting suggestions. A Weight Watchers leader must have excellent communication and listening skills--and patience to show members how to succeed on the program.
