Quickest Way to Lose Weight & Flatten the Stomach

Permanent weight loss can be a long and arduous process, especially if you have a lot of weight to lose. Knowing a few tricks for fast weight loss can help you to stay motivated because you see results more quickly. While you do have to be strict in your eating habits and sticking to an exercise routine, you will be able to lose weight and get a flat stomach.
  1. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

    • High intensity interval training, or HIIT, may be the quickest way to lose weight and flatten the stomach. When you do HIIT, your body must burn even more calories in order to recover from the workout that you gave it. This means that your body continues to burn additional calories long after you've finished exercising.

To do HIIT, start with a five minute warm up. Then increase your intensity for about 20 to 30 seconds, followed by a two minute recovery. On an intensity scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is completely inactive and 10 is working so hard that you're about to collapse, you should be working at an 8 or 9 during the intense phase. Alternate intense and recovery periods 6 to 8 times. You should do this routine just three times a week to see results. Due to the intensity of the workouts, you should not do it more than three times per week.

    Eating Clean

    • Your diet also plays an important role in losing weight and getting six pack abs. If you eat junk foods, it's hard to get flat abs, even though you stay within a low calorie range. If you want to expedite your weight loss, you should eat clean--follow a diet that eliminates refined carbohydrates and focus on whole grains, fruits, vegetables and lean protein.

When you follow this type of diet, where you eat healthy foods almost exclusively, you won't have to count calories. You will feel full and you will have extra energy. More important, you will lose weight.

    Abdominal Exercises

    • Once you get rid of the fat around your middle, you need to define your abdominal muscles through exercises that target the abs. Pilates is a particularly good workout because it targets the core and you can do it in just a few minutes a day. You can also do the more traditional crunch exercises--just be sure to do exercises that focus on the upper and lower abs as well as the obliques.

You shouldn't do abdominal exercises every day. Your ab muscles need time to repair themselves, in order to make them stronger. Because of this, you should do the exercises every other day or three times a week.
