Is Xenadrine EFX Safe?

Xenadrine EFX is a popular dietary supplement manufactured by Cytodyne. The supplement aims to help people with loss of fat and weight management. It comes in capsule form. It formerly contained ephedra, but now is entirely ephedra-free. Xenadrine is intended to be taken alongside a healthy, well-balanced diet and a regular exercise routine. As with most dietary supplements, there are some concerns as to whether Xenadrine EFX is safe.

  1. Ingredients

    • The main ingredients in Xenadrine EFX are vitamin C, proprietary thermodyne complex, norambrolide, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid and magnesium. Some of the other ingredients are green tea extract, tyroplex, yerba mate, ginger root and L-theanine.

    Ephedra

    • Xenadrine EFX used to contain ephedra, although the new versions of the dietary supplement do not. In 2004, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration banned the sale of ephedra because it was not believed to be safe. It was believed to cause tachycardia, high blood pressure, stroke, arrhythmia and heart attack. As a result of the formula changes, Xenadrine EFX now poses no risk of causing any ephedra-related health problems.

    Precaution

    • Certain types of individuals are advised to be particularly cautious when considering taking Xenadrine EFX. This is the case with the majority of supplements and medications. These people include those with hypertension, asthma, susceptibility to migraine headaches, allergy to chocolate, renal disease, hyperthyroidism, heart disease or Tyramine allergies.

    Caffeine

    • People should also take note of the fact that there are high amounts of caffeine in Xenadrine EFX. Caffeine is a type of diuretic known for increasing frequency of urination. Also, caffeine is capable of taking water from the muscles.

    Warnings

    • Xenadrine EFX does not have an official website. As a result, it is difficult to get in touch with its manufacturer (Cytodyne) regarding safety issues. Also, not a lot of clinical evidence is out there displaying Xenadrine EFX's safety or effectiveness.
