How to Take Picture to Track Weight Loss Progress

When you lose a lot of weight, it can sometimes be hard for you and others to believe just how much you have lost. Your clothes will generally indicate how much you lost based on how they fit. But to have a visualization constantly in front of you can help boost your will and determination to lose even more. Taking pictures of your weight loss progress can also be used to encourage others. When they look at your pictures and see how far you have come, it can motivate them to begin their own journey as well.

Put on some clothing that will reveal a true perception of the weight you are carrying on your body. If you are bold enough, you can put on a bathing suit or bikini. If not, you can wear shorts, swimming trunks or any other clothing that is form fitting. If you choose to wear spandex, be sure that the spandex is not tight. If it is tight, it can make you appear thinner than you really are.

Place your digital camera on a tripod. Focus the camera in on the location you will be standing to take your picture. Set the timer to snap your picture. If you are unsure of how to set your timer for your camera, refer to your owners manual.

Take a test photograph by walking over to the location that your camera has been focused on. Allow the camera to automatically snap your picture based on the timer settings.

After your picture has been taken, view the picture on your camera to ensure that it captured the entire length of your body. If it did not, refocus the camera and perform another test shot. If the picture was focused properly you can proceed to the next step.

Set the timer on your camera again. Walk over to the picture location and stand with an erect posture facing the camera. Don't slouch since slouching can give the appearance of added weight. Allow the camera to automatically snap your picture. Repeat this step as you take a snapshot of both of your sideviews and your rearview. After the process is completed, you should have a total of four shots, your front, your back and your two sides.

Upload your four pictures from your digital camera to your computer. To do this you simply connect the mini-USB cable that came with your camera to the USB port of your computer.
