Slim Fast Diet Nutritional Facts
For more than 30 years, Slim-Fast has produced meals-on-the-go to help dieters see weight-loss results. The plan involves consuming shakes, protein bars and healthy meals as a means to encourage weight loss. In addition to the diet, Slim-Fast recommends following an individualized exercise program of 30 to 60 minutes a day.-
Caloric Intake

The Slim-Fast diet recommends a daily caloric intake of 1,200 to 1,800 calories per day. Breakfast is typically a Slim-Fast product, then a snack (120 calories or less) between breakfast and lunch. Lunch can be solely a Slim-Fast product or a Slim-Fast in combination with half a turkey sandwich or other low-fat item. Another snack is consumed between lunch and dinner, and dinner typically consists of a 500-calorie meal featuring some combination of lean protein and vegetables. Diet followers are also encouraged to drink plenty of water and avoid foods high in fat or sugar.

The Slim-Fast shake is one of the biggest components of the Slim-Fast diet plan. The nutrition facts for one can (325 mL) of the Ultra Slim-Fast "Ready-to-Drink" Shake in French Vanilla flavor include: 220 calories; 3 grams of fat; 220 milligrams of sodium; 40 grams of carbohydrate; 5 grams of dietary fiber; 35 grams of sugars; and 10 grams of protein.
Nutrients of note include 100 percent of the recommended daily intake (RDA) of Vitamin C; 100 percent of Vitamin E; 40 percent of Vitamin A; and 35 percent of Vitamins B6 and B12.
Breakfast & Lunch Bar

Bars such as the Slim-Fast Breakfast & Lunch Bar are can be used in replacement or supplement to a shake. One peanut-butter-flavored bar has 150 calories; 6 grams of fat; 65 milligrams of sodium; 19 grams of carbohydrate; 2 grams of dietary fiber; 13 grams of sugars; and 5 grams of protein.
Nutrients of note include 25 percent of the recommended daily intake (RDA) of Vitamin C; 25 percent of Vitamin E; 25 percent of Vitamin A; 20 percent of Vitamins B6; and 25 percent of B12.

The following sample meal plan, provided by the Northwestern University School of Nutrition, follows the Slim-Fast diet principles. Breakfast: Slim-Fast Meal-on-the-Go drink and an apple; Lunch: Slim-Fast meal replacement bar, 1 cup lentil soup and 4 whole-wheat crackers; Snack: 1/2 cup nonfat cottage cheese with 1/2 cup of strawberries; Dinner: 4 ounces of baked white fish, 1/2 cup of steamed asparagus; 1/2 cup of steamed carrots and 1/2 cup of steamed brown rice along with 2 cups spinach salad with nonfat ranch dressing; and 1 medium pear; and an evening snack of 1 cup of nonfat frozen yogurt.

For this sample meal plan, nutritional facts equal 1415 calories, with 82 grams of protein, 26 grams of fat, 229 grams of carbohydrate, 2,693 grams of sodium; and 28 grams of fiber. This translates into 15 percent of calories coming from fat, 63 percent coming from carbohydrates, and 22 percent of calories coming from protein.
