Cylaris Side Effects

Cylaris is a weight-loss supplement manufactured by Iovate Health Sciences. It contains vitamins, minerals, caffeine, green tea extract, soy extract and the herb Cissus quadrangularis. Research on Cylaris is scant, but caffeine and Cissus quadrangularis both can cause side effects.
  1. Caffeine Dosage

    • Each Cylaris caplet contains 100 mg of caffeine, about the same as a cup of coffee. The amount of green tea is unspecified, but green tea also contains caffeine. Recommended dosage is one to two caplets twice a day.

    Caffeine Side Effects

    • Caffeine can cause many side effects, particularly in people not accustomed to consuming it. Common side effects include insomnia, jittery feelings, restlessness, heartburn, nausea and increased urination.

    Serious Side Effects

    • Caffeine can cause more serious effects, particularly in high doses, which may include high blood pressure, irregular or rapid heartbeat and heart palpitations. Caffeine also can worsen some mental health problems, such as anxiety and panic disorder.

    Cissus Quadrangularis Effects

    • Cissus quadrangularis is associated with side effects including diarrhea, gas, headache, dry mouth and insomnia.

    Drug Interactions

    • Caffeine interacts with many medications. These include diabetes medicine, certain types of antibiotics and antidepressants, cimetidine, clozapine and fluvoxamine.
