The Side Effects of Metabo Ultramax

Metabo Ultra-Max™ is a weight loss supplement that purportedly burns fat, increases metabolism, suppresses appetite and boosts energy. Metabo Ultra-Max™ literature claims the product is different from other weight loss products in that it will not make you feel jittery, nervous or anxious. The product claims to be 100 percent natural, and does not use ingredients like Mao Huang or Ephedra to achieve weight loss results.
  1. Ingredients

    • Metabo Ultra-Max™ contains Chromium Polynicotinate, Calcium Pyruvate, Korean Ginseng Complex, L-Phenylalanine and L-Tyrosine.

    Side Effects of Chromium Polynicotinate

    • More than 1000mcg/day of chromium over an extended period of time can result in serious side effects. Chromium is a common ingredient in many supplements including multi-vitamins. Be sure to check to make sure you are not overdosing on chromium. Severe side effects include blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, anemia, and kidney and liver failure. Mild side effects include minor gastrointestinal discomfort.

    Side Effects of Calcium Pyruvate

    • According to WebMD, Calcium Pyruvate produces only mild gastrointestinal side effects including bloating, gas, stomach upset and diarrhea when taken in large quantities.

Side Effects of Korean Ginseng Complex

    • Long term use of ginseng can cause nerve inflammation, which, in turn, can cause muscle spasms. Common side effects include headaches, anxiety, drowsiness and breast pain. Moderate to severe side effects include hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar. Some symptoms of low blood sugar include shakiness, irritability, confusion, sweating, distorted speech and loss of muscle control. Low blood sugar, if not reversed, can cause you to pass out and can even lead to death. Ginseng has also been known to increase heart rate and blood pressure. If you have a pre-existing heart condition, ginseng could exacerbate a heart condition. Check with your healthcare provider before taking this product.

    Side Effects of L-Phenylalanine

    • Phenylalanine can cause hyperactivity, anxiety and jitteriness in children. If more than 5000mg are taken daily, it can be toxic and can cause nerve damage. More mild side effects include heartburn, nausea and headaches. Check with your healthcare provider before taking this product.

    Side Effects of L-Tyrosine

    • L-Tyrosine has been known to cause headaches, nausea, heartburn, fatigue and joint pain. More severe side effects include severe allergic reactions such as itching, hives, rashes, swelling of lips, tongue and mouth, and anaphylactic reactions (difficulty breathing). L-Tyrosine has also been shown to speed up the thyroid when hypothyroidism already exists.

    Considerations

    • When reviewing the individual side effects listed for each of the ingredients, several common side effects jump out. Headaches and stomach problems seem to be common. It is reasonable to assume that common side effects of Metabo Ultra-Max™ will include these symptoms.
