Food Tips for Six Pack Abs

Nothing is sexier than a flat tummy with a beautiful six pack ab ripple down the middle. Six pack abs are coveted in society because they are difficult to obtain. Crunches and exercise alone won't get you that ripped look. You have to seriously examine your diet and add foods that will help you gain this look and eliminate those that won't help.
  1. Complete Protein

    • Protein foods are a must if you want six pack abs. The amino acids in complete protein fueled foods feeds muscle growth. Complete protein foods contain eight essential amino acids that interact with the twelve non-essential amino acids your body produces. The interaction of all twenty amino acids encourage muscle formation and growth.

      Chicken, beef, fish, eggs, milk and other animal products contain complete proteins. Protein is also in plant-based sources such as barley, oatmeal, whole grain bread, nuts and broccoli. Eat at least one serving of a protein-fueled food with every meal.

    Water

    • Water flushes the toxins from your body, keeps you hydrated and helps you get ripped abs. Calorie reduction is one of the most effective ways to see your ab muscles and drinking water will help reduce your hunger pains. Drink water throughout the day to reduce your calorie consumption and dilute the digestive fluids.

      The recommended eight glasses of water a day is a good start, but aim to double your intake for better results. Bodybuilder Kerry Dulin says that bodybuilders drink up to three gallons of water a day before competition.

      Drink one glass of water before, during and after each meal to accommodate an increased fluid intake.

    High Fiber Carbohydrates

    • Ditch the white flour processed carbs and opt for whole grain, plant-based carbohydrates such as fruit, vegetables and whole-grain bread.

      Get more bang for your buck and eat broccoli. One cup of fresh chopped broccoli contains 2.6 grams of protein, 2.4 grams of dietary fiber and only 31 calories.

      Foods high in fiber help you feel full much faster than when you eat processed foods. High fiber foods also give you the fuel to produce energy which is important for working out.

      Brown rice, whole wheat bread and whole wheat pasta are some other high-fiber foods you can add to your diet along with the plant-based foods found in the vegetable family.
