Free Healthy Diet Plans for Losing Hips

The hips are often a problem area for dieters in the battle with weight loss. Fat accumulates around the hips and is often difficult to lose. Although it is next to impossible to spot treat areas of the body to lose weight, if you accumulate fat in the hips, there are steps you can take to eliminate the excess weight from this area.
  1. Eat Breakfast

    • A large part of winning the weight loss battle is to change habits and increase metabolism. According to foodsafety.gov, eating breakfast has been proven to have weight loss benefits because it helps to increase metabolism throughout the day. If you store fat in your hips, increasing your metabolism will help you to burn fat more efficiently by increasing your resting heart rate. This means you will burn more fat even while you are doing little or no activity. Start your day by consuming a low-calorie, low-fat breakfast of foods like toast, juice, oatmeal and low-fat milk and cereal.

    Avoid Fats

    • If you tend to store fat in the hips, then this is the first place excess fat will go. Eliminate any excess saturated fat from your diet to lose hip fat. Saturated fats can be found in fat cuts of meat, cheese and dairy made with any milk that is not non-fat. Read all nutrition labels and look for saturated fat content. Saturated fat should be less than 5% of your diet if you want to lose hip weight.

    Limit Calories

    • Recommended calorie intake for sedentary to active men and women is 2000/2500 and 3000/3500, respectively. Keep track of your calorie intake for one week and divide the resulting number by seven to get your daily calorie intake. In order to lose one pound of fat per week, you will have to reduce this number by 500 a day (there are 3500 calories in a pound of fat). If you store fat in the hip area, it is likely that fat will come off of this area last, so you may need to decrease calorie intake significantly to see marked decrease of fat.

    Increase Aerobics

    • Do specific exercises to burn fat in the hip area. Exercises such as jogging, bicycling, running, elliptical, climbing, fast walking, kickboxing and fast dancing tend to burn a lot of calories and fat. These exercises also work specifically on the lower body to increase hip fat burn. Perform 30 to 60 minutes of aerobic activity at least 3 days per week to experience significant weight loss in the hips.
