Tips for Extreme Weight Loss
-
Increase Cardiovascular Exercise and Build Muscle
-
Regular exercise causes the body to burn off excess calories and fat and helps the body build more lean muscle tissue. Lean muscle tissue burns more calories than fat does, meaning that the more lean muscle mass you have in your body, the more effective your workouts will be in helping you lose weight. If you are trying to lose weight rapidly, participate in a vigorous exercise that increases your heart rate to more than 60 percent of its normal resting rate, such as running, biking or speed walking. These exercises build up cardiovascular strength and lean muscle mass, and burn a significant number of calories.
Distract the Mind
-
Staying busy keeps you from dwelling on food. Focus on an enjoyable task. Take a class; learn a new language, painting or photography. Another way to keep the mind clear and focused is to meditate. Meditation involves clearing all thoughts from the mind and enjoying deep silence. With regular practice, meditation can help you keep your mind focused and clear. Keeping the mind occupied and active will help keep your mind off of food and on more productive activities.
Revamp the Diet
-
Eating fresh produce, lean meats and whole grains instead of processed or packaged foods helps your body maintain a higher nutritional level while restricting the daily caloric intake. Avoid processed or packaged foods, which are typically high in fat, sugar, salt or calories. These foods will not only increase overall calories ingested per day, but offer little nutritionally. Try to make the bulk of your diet fresh produce, such as fruits and vegetables of many varieties. Produce contains high levels of vitamins, minerals and fiber that will improve the digestive tract, increase energy, and decrease daily caloric intake.
