Stacker Weight Loss Drugs
Although there have been little clinical studies done to prove the effectiveness of Stacker weight loss drugs and the potential side effects of using them, they have become increasingly popular amongst dieters looking to boost energy while getting rid of fat. Part of the popularity is owed to the fact that they are an easily accessible and affordable alternative.-
The Facts
-
Stacker drugs are manufactured by NVE Pharmaceuticals, Inc. They are sold in nutrition stores, such as GNC and the Vitamin Shoppe, as well as major supermarkets and drug stores. The drugs come in the form of a capsule, and are meant to be taken on a daily basis with water. Stacker drugs can be taken by women and men who are at least 18 years of age.
Function
-
Stacker drugs claim to eliminate fat while increasing energy. They are not meant to replace diet and exercise, but rather, to complement a healthy lifestyle. It is best to seek a doctor before taking them, in order to reduce side effects and to effectively lose weight.
Types
-
There are currently two types of Stacker drugs on the market: Stacker 2 and Stacker 3. Stacker 2 was previously a blend of aspirin, caffeine and ephedrine, before ephedra was banned in 2004. The current ephedra-free version is a 520 mg capsule that contains white willow bark, kola nut, chromium picolinate, stearic acid, calcium phosphate, gelatin, black lke and yellow #5. Stacker 3 has the same ingredients, but with added chitosan, a fiber that comes from shellfish.
Benefits
-
Chitosan is marketed as being able to directly dissolve cholesterol and fat in the stomach. There have been little studies to prove that chitosan dissolves fat. However, studies have shown that chitosan can lower cholesterol in the body. Chitosan has been on the market in various forms since the 1970s.
Warning
-
According to Diet Spotlight, there is scant information concerning Stacker 3 from the drug manufacturer. In addition, the company does not offer a 100 percent guarantee or money back. Trial samples are not offered through the company website. Such discrepancies lead some to suspect that Stacker drugs do not measure up to the company's claims. There have been reported side effects of nervousness, restlessness, dizziness, light-headedness, an increased heart rate and an increase in blood pressure. Stacker 3 should not be taken if one is allergic to shellfish, due to the chitosan ingredient.
