Fastest Ways to Lose Weight

Maintaining a healthy body weight can improve your physical appearance. But more importantly, shedding excess weight reduces your risk of various illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes. However, losing weight is easier said than done. And with so many different diets, choosing the right weight loss plan is challenging. But regardless of how much weight you want to lose, there are techniques to help you quickly shed the pounds.
  1. Adopt Healthier Eating Habits

    • Certain foods and eating habits contribute to excess pounds. To lose weight fast and safely, you'll need to alter your eating habits and choose healthier foods. Begin by reducing your intake of high-fat foods such as fried foods and fast foods. Select fat-free or low-fat alternatives such as lean means, fruits, vegetables and grains. Limit your intake of refined sugars (candy, cookies and other sweet treats), and eat between 130 and 150 grams of carbs a day. Reducing your caloric intake is also essential. In fact, by reducing your daily calories by 500, you can quickly lose between one and two pounds a week.

    Begin a Workout Routine

    • In conjunction with healthy eating, an exercise routine is key to losing weight fast. Physical exertion burns calories and fat, and improves your total health. Include exercise in your daily routine and strive for at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day. If this isn't feasible, attempt to workout for 30 to 60 minutes a minimum of three times a week. Workouts can consist of aerobic activity, running, walking or swimming. Core workouts such as sit-ups and leg lifts tone and flatten the stomach; whereas weightlifting builds muscle tone, which can increase your metabolism.

    Fiber and Water Intake

    • If you're interested in shedding abdominal or belly fat, increase your water and fiber intake. A low-fiber diet often results in infrequent bowel movements, which can lead to abdominal bloating. Additionally, a high-sodium diet plays a role in fluid retention or water weight. To lose these extra pounds, consume between 20 and 35 grams of fiber a day (fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, nuts), or take a fiber supplement. Also, drinking at least eight glasses of water a day flushes fluids from your body and gets rid of excess water weight.
