How to Lose Weight with CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)

CLA or conjugated linoleic acid is a fatty acid that helps people lose fat and gain muscle. Most meat and dairy products naturally contain CLA; however, many people do not get enough of this fatty acid because the common American diet is made up from mostly processed foods. CLA was originally used to slim down cattle by blocking the weight gaining effect from stress. In humans, CLA was proven to help people lose weight and gain muscle. Since muscle burns more calories than fat, CLA cannot only help people get toned, but also it can help increase metabolism.

Instructions

To get CLA from food, eat a balanced diet that includes dairy products. Eat sharp cheddar, cottage cheese, mozzarella, butter, whole milk, and yogurt. Paradoxically, the higher the fat content in dairy foods, the higher the CLA content. So it's important to eat no more than a few servings of dairy per day. Keep in mind that too much fat will affect your health and cause weight gain instead of weight loss.

Eat red meat to increase CLA consumption and lose weight. The highest levels of CLA are found in cuts of meat where the cattle has been grass fed. Other meat like chicken and pork have CLA too; however, there is more CLA in red meat.
