How to Get a Tan in the Middle of Winter Without Tanning
-
Preparing Your Skin
-
Jump into the shower to thoroughly bathe and exfoliate your skin. Work the exfoliant into your skin, concentrating on areas that are prone to rough patches, including your knees, elbows and tops of your feet. Rinse away the exfoliant with warm water. Dry yourself with a towel to remove the excess water. Allow your skin to completely air dry before attempting to apply the self-tanning lotion. Head into a cooler room, or allow the bathroom to dehumidify and cool down to ensure the tanner doesn’t become too runny from the excess heat.
Legs and Feet
-
Slip on a pair of rubber gloves and begin to apply the self-tanner to your legs. Starting at the pubic line, apply the self-tanner in long, straight motions until both legs, front and back, are completely covered. Move onto the tops of your feet. Once again, apply the self-tanning lotion in long strokes until your feet are completely covered.
Torso and Arms
-
Apply the self-tanning product to your torso. Depending on personal preference, stop the application just above the pubic hair line. Spread the tanning lotion onto your arms, both front and back. Remove the gloves and cover the backs of your hands with self-tanner using a sponge brush.
Back Application and Drying Time
-
Apply the self-tanner to your back with the sponge brush. Ask a friend or relative to help reach your back to make the finished job more uniform. Sit on a towel and allow the self-tanner to dry for at least one hour. You can get up and move around after 15 to 20 minutes, just avoid touching anything, such as clothing, that can stain.
