Liquid diets are diets that contain foods that are all liquid. While it is not recommended as a method for weight loss, it seems to be in great demand since summer is approaching. Liquid diets are usually used by persons who detoxify, are cleansing their colons, persons who just had surgery, persons who have a problem chewing or swallowing and persons suffering from extreme obesity.

These diets consists of juices replacing all meals. It does not provide the body with any necessary nutrients including protein, fat and calories. Usually when one is on this diet they fail to maintain adequate energy levels.

If however you still decide to go on a liquid diet you need to take a tonic or juice supplement to provide the necessary vitamins and minerals to the body so that it can keep functioning. BEWARE this diet should be for SHORT TERM USE ONLY and CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR before you decide to Start. If you do go on this diet without consulting a physician you do so at your own risk.

You can consume coffee, tea, sports drinks, broth, nutrition supplement drinks e.g. ensure(pounds tend to be regained after you stop taking these protein shakes),popsicle, gelatin, puree vegetables in soups, sherbet. Remember that it is not advised that this diet be used as a means of weight loss and if you decide to use this diet to lose weight you are doing so at your own risk. If you want to lose weight the healthy way consult your physician, go the gym and eat healthy.
