How to Lose the Last Ten Pounds for Good
For some of us, losing the last 10 pounds of our goal seems dreadfully difficult to achieve. Even if you go to the gym five days a week, do your cardio faithfully and eat a clean diet, you still may have trouble because your body has developed a tolerance for your workouts. Therefore, it takes more to achieve the same results. There are three things that will make a difference in the last 10 pounds: diet, training and supplements.Instructions

Use High Intensity Interval Training, also called plyometrics. You are essentially “tricking” your body into thinking it’s starting and stopping a workout. So you will throw a sprint into your walking after five minutes and then go back to just walking, etc. There are a variety of HIIT exercises that you can incorporate into your training that will speed up your metabolism. Some of the basics: jumping jacks, mountain climbers, high knees and jumping rope. The key is to add about a minute of HIIT into your weightlifting program to spike your metabolism. You can also throw a few sprints into your treadmill program every 5 minutes. The idea is to walk, run, walk, sprint and constantly trick your body.

Tweak your diet. If you are already on a clean-eating diet, great! If not, eating clean will make the pounds melt off. Tweak your clean-eating diet by only having complex carbs in the morning and nothing but protein and vegetables after noon. Alternate these “low-carb days” with “no-carb days,” only having protein and green veggies throughout the day. This is a key secret for fitness models getting ready for a photoshoot. Go to the gym when you wake up, before there is any food in your system, to do an hour of cardio. Doing cardio before you eat allows your body to break down the fat stores versus breaking down the food in your system. Cut out the salt and sugar from your diet and watch your stomach shrink! Also make sure you are eating 5 to 6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism racing.

Take supplements. CLA is great for burning excess fat in the body and helps your heart stay healthy. This is a supplement you can take all year. You should be taking a multi-vitamin, especially when you are carb depleting, for extra energy. Protein shakes should be a staple in your diet, before you train, after you train and if you get hungry before bed. Cissus is another supplement that has been proven to help joints as well as burn fat. These are not the “fat burners” that claim to help you lose weight, but they promote lean muscle mass and help fight fat. You can look into taking a commercial fat burner if you’d like, but you had better know every ingredient in the proprietary blend. Many herbal ingredients are disguised and may harm you. My advice is to stay away from diuretics.
