How to Put Music on an iFit

An iFit home workout system uses two methods for playing music through its speakers. Customers may either dock their portable music player to the machine's music input or download workout programs with music from the official iFit website. At the time of publication, there is no way to simply download your own music into the iFit's internal memory. However, one of the two options should enable you to work out using music that gets your legs moving.

Download your workout music to your portable music player. Try to use higher bit-rate music for your workout mix. The iFit has limited volume adjustment and lower-quality music may sound muted or low when playing through the iFit's speakers. Higher bit-rate music files stream more information for second, allowing for clearer-sounding music files. You can typically check the bit rate of a music file by right clicking and selecting "Properties" or "File Info."

Connect the portable music player via the dock or 1/8-inch jack. The iFit offers docking support for Apple products, including the iPhone and iPod. If you have another Mp3 player, plug the 1/8-inch audio cable from your Mp3 player to the input jack of the machine.

Select the music you want to play while working out. Navigate to the Mp3 input selector on your iFit workout screen and verify that the functionality is turned to the on position. Music should play through the speakers of your iFit.

Log in to your iFit account on the iFit website and browse the workout programs offered. The site allows you to listen to and sample any music workouts that interest you. For example, iFit offers a 16-week fitness program featuring rock music. Once you find a workout with music that you like, purchase the music workout.

Download the music workout program to your iFit using the link provided by iFit or by syncing your iFit equipment via its wireless connection. Wireless synchronization is nearly instantaneous and is provided as an option after you pay for your music program. Downloading to your computer, however, requires you to also transfer the music workout program to an SD card. SD stands for the "Secure Digital" format. The cards are typically blue or black and are the size of a postage stamp. After you place the music workout program on an SD card, remove the card from your computer and plug it into the iFit unit.

Access the music workout program by navigating to the iFit's main menu and selecting "Workouts." The new music workout should come up on your screen as an option. Press "Select" and begin working out to your new music program.
