You can even eat out at restaurants when you want to, but you will have to calculate your Weight Watchers points for your restaurant dining. So how do you do this? Decide where you would like to dine out. For example, I loved being able to still go to Panera Bread when I was using the Weight Watchers flex plan weight loss program. Once you have picked your restaurant, you are ready to go online and decide what you'll order. It is beneficial to decide what you'll order before you go. That way, you can make sure you are staying within your daily points balance (or at least within your extra weekly point allowance each week) and not have any regret later. See the "Resources" section for more information on how to use Weight Watchers flex points and how to calculate weight watchers points.

Click on the link for Dotti's below and find your restaurant choice. I decided that I want to go to Panera Bread, so I can click on "P" and look for the restaurant name in that section. Once you find your restaurant name, click on it.

Find the item that you plan to order. Menu items are generally organized in food categories for each restaurant. For example, I want to order French Onion soup with cheese and croutons, so I find that item under the "Soups" section. My soup has a value of 4.5 Weight Watchers points. I plan to drink diet coke with my meal, and I already know that is a 0 point value, but this can also be found in the Weight Watchers Complete Food Companion. You can also calculate some of the restaurant points using the Weight Watchers Dining Out Companion, but not every restaurant is listed in that guide. You can see the "Resources" section for information on how to do this.

Add up your points for your planned order and make sure you will be within your daily points balance. For example, I would add up my planned order to reach 4.5 weight watchers points for my order. I would need to make sure that I still had these points left that day, or be able to use some of my 35 weekly flex points. I could also earn Weight Watchers activity points that day to add to my balance. If you're not using it already, you may find the Weight Watchers QuikTrak a convenient way to manage your Weight Watchers points. See the "Resources" section for more information about QuikTrak. You are now ready to dine out and enjoy your meal while knowing that you are still following your weight loss program!
