How to Wash a Bowel Movement Out of a Crib Sheet

Crib sheets, or baby sheets, are usually made of cotton and are used to cover a crib mattress. If you have babies in your house, chances are good that at some point, you'll need to clean feces from the crib sheets. Stool-stained sheets may sink into the baby crib mattress and stink up the room. Fortunately, crib sheets are washable. You can wash them and kill any fecal bacteria using some simple washing methods.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the soiled crib sheets and place them in a bucket or basin. Fill the bucket with cold water to loosen any fecal solid particles. Don't use hot water since this can cook the protein in the feces making the stain difficult to remove.

    • 2

Discard the water in the toilet carefully. Fill the bucket with cold water again and discard. Repeat three to four times.

    • 3

Place the crib sheet in your washing machine. Wash using cold water and add 1 cup of bleach to the wash (or according to directions on the bleach). The bleach will destroy the fecal bacteria. Use color-safe bleach if the crib sheet is colored.

    • 4

Dry the crib sheet in the dryer after the stain is completely removed.
