Vaccinations & Infant Shot Schedules
The Centers for Disease Control states that infants and children "need immunizations to protect them from dangerous childhood diseases. These diseases can have serious complications and even kill children." The CDC publishes a schedule of recommended vaccines for infants.-
Birth to 1 Month

All newborns should be vaccinated against Hepatitis B before they leave the hospital. When he is one month old, he should have a second dose of Hepatitis B vaccine.
2 Months

When your baby is two months old, your doctor will probably give her these vaccinations: Hepatitis B (if the second dose was not given at one month); rotavirus (RV); diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis (DTap) vaccine; Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine; pneumococcal vaccine; and inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV).
4 Months

The baby needs these vaccinations at four months: rotavirus (RV); diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis (DTap) vaccine; Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine; pneumococcal vaccine; and inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV).
6 Months

When the baby is six months old, the doctor will administer another dose of rotavirus (RV) vaccine (but only if the baby missed its two month or four month rotavirus (RV) vaccine) and of Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine, as well as a flu shot; diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis (DTap) vaccine; and pneumococcal vaccine.
6 to 18 Months

Between the ages of six months and 18 months, the baby needs one more dose of Hepatitis B vaccine and one more dose of inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV).
1 Year to 2 Years

Between the ages of 12 months and 15 months, the baby receives her first doses of these vaccines: measles, mumps and rubella vaccine (MMR) and varicella vaccine. In addition, she should get her fourth doses of Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine and pneumococcal vaccine. Between the ages of 12 months and 24 months, your doctor will probably administer two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine (HepA). Season flu shots should be given once a year.
