Bumbo Safety

Bumbo seats are rubber seats designed to hold infants in an upright position. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Bumbo seats were recalled in October of 2007 due to reports of the seats causing injuries. Bumbos have since been released again, with new safety guidelines. Following these guidelines can prevent your infant from being injured.

Elevated Surface

• Bumbos should never be used on an elevated surface. Infants can arch their backs and cause the seat to fall over.

Bath Seats

• Bath seating is not the intended use of a Bumbo, as soapy water can cause an infant to slip out of the seat.

Supervision

• Always supervise your baby while in a Bumbo. The seat is not completely restricted and your child could fall out with a vigorous-enough movement.

Carrying

• Children should be removed from the Bumbo seat before you carry it to another location so the child does not accidentally fall out.

Capacity

• Bumbos were designed to hold one infant at a time. Do not put two infants in one Bumbo. This could cause the Bumbo to tip.
