Nutramigen is hypoallergenic infant formula manufactured by the Enfamil company. It is a lactose-free formula marketed for babies who have colic and/or may be lactose intolerant or allergic to milk proteins.-

Time Frame

Babies usually are given formula until they are 12 months old. At this the time, the baby can be given cow's milk or soy milk. If the baby is suspected to have a milk allergy, consult a pediatrician before switching from Nutramigen to milk.
Considerations

According to Dr. Alan Greene, babies who have a severe allergy to milk may still have a reaction to Nutramigen because it has traces of milk in it. Neocate may be needed for babies with severe milk allergies.
