How to Use Flushable Liners

In the effort to "go green," many new parents are looking to cloth diapers to solve their babies' needs. Using cloth diapers at home can be easy because of the proximity of the toilet and the diaper pail. What about leaving the house? How can you protect the environment and still take your baby to town with you? The answer is flushable liners. Flushable liners placed inside cloth diapers allow wetness to absorb into the diaper while trapping solid waste.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the cloth diaper onto the diapering surface. Most public restrooms now have diaper changing stations. If you are concerned about germs, first clean the diaper station with a disinfecting wipe or line it with a garbage bag or paper towels.

    • 2

Place the liner inside the cloth diaper. Some flushable liners come in perforated rolls. The liner will need to be torn from the roll first.

    • 3

Place the baby on top of the liner and diaper. Wrap the diaper and liner around the baby and fasten as usual. Many cloth diapers now come with velcro closures, eliminating the need for diaper pins.

    • 4

Change a soiled diaper by picking up the liner and its contents and flushing. The cloth diaper can now be stored in a watertight washable bag until you can get home to the washing machine or diaper pail.
