How to Use a Nasal Syringe

If your baby is suffering from too much mucus in her nose, it is important to clear the her nasal passages to facilitate proper breathing, and to keep her happy. One way to fight nasal congestion is through the use of nasal syringes, which can be used to suck out any mucus that is blocking the nasal passage and preventing your baby from breathing correctly.

  • Saline
  • Eyedropper
  • Wipes

Instructions

    • 1

      Sit in a chair so that your legs are horizontal to the ground, with a slight gap between them.

      Lay the baby on your legs, with her feet by your stomach and head by your knees.

      Apply one or two drops of saline to the baby's nostrils and allow it to sit for ten seconds.

      Squeeze the bulb of the nasal syringe.

    • 5

      Insert the syringe into the baby's nostril gently.

    • 6

      Release the bulb gently and allow it to fill with air again, sucking out the mucus.

    • 7

      Wipe off the syringe after each use.

    • 8

      Repeat for the other nostril.
