Infant Car Seat Recall List

Infant car seats are carriers with detachable bases that, for safety reasons, are designed to face the rear of the car, reducing the risk of your infant becoming injured in a car accident. Infant seats are sometimes recalled for component malfunction or failure. Finding out if your child's safety seat has been recalled is an easy process that does not require any special skills.

    • The Recall Division of the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) is responsible for obtaining safety recall information for all elements that promote safe driving. This includes car seat information on all manufacturers and models. The information is presented in list form alphabetically.

    • By going to NHTSA's webpage (http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/childseat.cfm), you can access an alphabetical listing of all manufacturers and models of infant carriers that have been recalled. Scroll down the list of manufacturers. Once you have found the manufacturer, a list of recalled products by that manufacturer will appear.

    Product Registration

    • Infant safety seats are accompanied with warranty, defect and product registration information. This information can be located inside the box of the car seat. It is important to register your safety seat by filling out the post card with your name and address. Most product registration cards are postage-paid and require only that you drop them in the mailbox. If you ensure your product is registered, you will receive a list of safety recalled products mailed to your home automatically, without having to make a formal request.
