How to Get an Infant to Wear Baby Eyeglasses

1
Offer positive reinforcement to your toddler for wearing the glasses. Set aside your child's favorite toy and offer it every time she allows the glasses to stay on. Praise your child and applaud your child for wearing them.
-
2
Make sure the glasses fit. Sometimes the reason for the resistance is that the baby glasses simply aren't the right size, and are causing the child discomfort. Make sure that your child's glasses are framed by an optician who has knowledge and experience in baby eyewear. Choose glasses that currently fit your child, not a pair that he will eventually grow into.
-
3
Explain to your little one why the glasses are necessary. Your child will be more likely to want to wear the glasses once she realizes that the glasses will help her see better.
-
4
Choose glasses that are harder to take off. Many baby eyeglasses have flexible and round earpieces that fit snuggly behind a child's ear. Others are made with elastic bands that keep the glasses from slipping off.
