Noticing a red rash on your baby's soft, delicate skin can be alarming, but there is no need to worry -- diaper rash is very common. Clean your baby well using a soft washcloth dampened with warm water every time you change her diaper. When done, gently pat the area until it's dry.

    • 2

A heavy cream made of zinc oxide should be applied to existing rashes. When the rash clears up, use a lighter cream to give your baby's bottom some moisture, which will help prevent new rashes.

    • 3

Changing your baby's diaper often will help keep the area dry and clean. This will usually be every two hours or a bit longer for older babies.

    • 4

Food allergies can cause rashes as well. If you notice a rash that looks like a red ring on your baby's bottom, experiment with the food you are feeding your baby to identify which food it could be. Once found, remove the food from your baby's diet.

If after all your attempts, the rash is still there, see your pediatrician to determine if a prescription cream is needed.
